Real time, on-location scouting the landscape, setting up for your composition, technical skills, reading light, and enhancing your creative vision. This is the perfect time to slow down and hand the reins over to your inner creativity. This is truly your chance to learn to “see” in the landscape. A place that can come across as chaotic and out of control. Learn to find the balance and structure in the landscape and make photographic choices that will create the visual flow and depth you’ve been looking for. It doesn’t matter whether you are just starting out or confident in your skills; there’s no better way to accelerate your photography than spending the day with a working professional in inspiring locations, especially in the Southern Appalachians. Our landscape is diverse and incredible; however, it can be rather fickle on how you choose to photograph it. When conditions are at their best, and the light is right, it will be something you won’t soon forget. Let me show you what’s happening behind the scenes and how to photograph it. The opposite is also true. Perhaps you are just looking for a relaxed, casual day behind the camera. That’s perfect for me. Let me share some of my favorite places with you. Where traffic is lean, and it’s just you, the camera, and the sound of the water against the wind, surrounded by rolling hills of blue.
Based in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, I offer private Tours throughout the Southern Appalachians, including Waterfalls, Wildflowers, beautiful Vistas, and many other hidden gems I’ve discovered over decades of exploration. We travel at your pace, taking plenty of time to relax and connect with the landscape. Learning the landscape around you is the perfect place to start.
From mastering manual settings to learning how to create depth, emotion, and drama in your images, these workshops are all about unlocking your potential as a landscape photographer and having fun. Whether you're looking to build a stronger portfolio, expand your print sales, prepare for an exhibition, or simply grow your own creativity, I’ll meet you where you are and help point the way forward so you can avoid the pitfalls. Private Tours start at only $325. for a half day, 6-9 hours depending on the Season. Full days starting at $600, 10-12 hours.
Non-photography spouses are welcome to join! I am fully permitted, insured, and CPR Life Saving Certified. All travel is provided in these custom Workshops.

The Sessions are recorded for you so you can easily refer back to the exact moves or settings. Just bring your list of questions, and you will have all of the answers. Interested in demos? We can do all you like. Image critiques are a perfect way to fine-tune and polish your current images, and get a professional opinion on your competition images and your website portfolio.
Beginning in Photography? Not a problem… I can take you through Lightroom and have you up and running in no time. It’s easy when you have someone explain it to you. Books and tutorials can sometimes leave you wanting. Advanced and looking for that nifty little trick that will step up your current workflow? Give me a chance, I have many, and so far, there have been a lot of “ah ha!” moments.
Can’t learn Photoshop? I’ll show you why you don’t have to “learn Photoshop” and why just a couple of moves in there could change everything for you! It’s easy, I promise.

Cancellation Policy
NOTE: Private Workshops offer better flexibility than Group Workshops and can target ideal weather for landscape photography, which is a serious advantage.
If you get rained out or an emergency occurs, you can rebook your Private Workshop anytime within a Calendar year from your original date. We just pick a new date and roll forward.
No refunds are given on Private Workshops, but you will receive a full credit when you roll forward to another date.
